Horrific Murder of Afghan Migrant Girl in Pakdasht, Tehran
Kobra had left home only to go to work—and never returned. Only her hands and feet were found; the rest of her body, along with her cellphone and personal belongings, remains missing
The dismembered body of Kobra Rezaei, a 26-year-old Afghanistani migrant known by the name “Shaghayegh,” was discovered among trash in the deserts of Hesarek nearly 50 days after her disappearance.
She had left home only to go to work—and never returned. Only her hands and feet were found; the rest of her body, along with her cellphone and personal belongings, remains missing. Police sealed off the area and prohibited any filming or official reporting.
Kobra's identity was confirmed solely through DNA testing. On Tuesday night, police informed her family of her death but refused to provide further details. As of this report, no suspects have been formally named, and available information remains speculative and unverified. The funeral has also been halted by security forces for unknown reasons, and burial authorization has not yet been issued. Official media outlets continue to remain silent.
This murder comes amid a disturbing rise in violence and organized crimes targeting Afghanistani migrants and refugees, especially women. Human rights activists warn of a dangerous pattern of systemic neglect—crimes being ignored simply because of the victim’s nationality. In the absence of institutional response, the responsibility falls on public awareness and independent media to prevent this tragedy from being forgotten. #Bami Naw #KobraRezaei
