LADN, India’s Aerospace and Defense News Agency, following the night raid known as Operation Sindoor—“The Hindu Mark”—on Pakistani soil led by two female commanders, posted a simulated image of Himanshi Narwal, wife of Indian Navy officer Viney Narwal, who was killed in the Kashmir terrorist attack. In a Hindi-language Facebook post, LADN wrote: “Sindoor is just a glimpse—turmeric and henna are still left” #OperationSindoor
Himanshi Narwal, the wife of the late Indian naval officer Viney Narwal, became a symbol of sorrow across Indian and international media, with a widely circulated image of her kneeling beside her husband’s lifeless body—her forehead bare, and without the red sindoor mark. After killing Viney and his companions, the armed attackers reportedly told Himanshi to “ask Modi to come to your assist”
In the wake of the April 22, 2025 terrorist attack targeting Indian tourists and newlywed brides in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi canceled his planned two-day visit to Saudi Arabia. He returned to New Delhi and convened an emergency meeting with Indian security officials.
The outcome of that meeting was the launch of Operation Sindoor. The mission was meticulously planned by elite units across the Indian Army, Air Force, and Aerospace Defense, and is being executed under the leadership of two female commanders: Sofia Qureshi, a Muslim officer in the Army, and Vyomika Singh, a devout Hindu in the Air Force.
To date, neither the Indian Ministry of Defense nor the two female commanders have officially declared the end of the retaliatory Operation Sindoor against terrorist hideouts within Pakistani territory. They have, however, firmly stated that should Pakistan continue to act with aggression or defiance, the operation will proceed decisively and relentlessly.
